Summer Altice Interview
Did The Rock teach you anything about stage fighting? I wanted to learn one of those body choke holds but we were so involved in just getting the battle scenes right, it was so taxing, such long days out in the heat, it was grueling, it was hard work. So, maybe I'll ask him at the party tonight. Did your athletic background help with the action? It totally did. I don't think I would have been able to do this role if I wouldn't have known what it was like to have four hour practices a day and have to work out and really dedicate yourself. Just the exhaustion doing all these battle scenes every day and having to get up to do it again, 17 hour days, it was different. It was new but you see what you do it for when it's all done. Was it tough to learn how to sell fake fighting? Yeah, it was, but we had great stunt women. The stunt women who worked on this film rocked. They took such control of the really pointy fight scenes, and that's what they're there for. They went at it, just let's go, and it was so awesome. Are you looking to focus more on acting in your career now? Yes, yes. I think that being able to show yourself but also show that there's something behind that, to me I think is so much more gratifying and so much more rewarding than just being able to look at a picture. Do you have any more roles lined up? A series for Showtime called Chromium Blue. It's an adventure series from Zalman King but it's completely opposite of anything he's ever done. It's not erotic? No, it's like Fantasy Island meets Sex in the City on a boat. I'm the series star. I play the limo driver. I pick you up from the airport and then we sail to all these different exotic points. It's an adventure series, so something goes wrong every episode. Are you involved in the action chaos in the series? Yeah, I'm actually the only one that fights. Would you like to become an action heroine? I think it'd be great. I think it'd be fun. These kinds of roles are so much more fun. I definitely want to be able to do all those other roles but I think being an athlete, I might as well use that for the rest of my acting career, to be able to show that I can be an action actress as well as dramatic. Like Angelina Jolie. She has it all when it comes to the acting world because she can do both and she's phenomenal at both. Will the series allow you time for movies? I think so. We haven't talked about another season. We've filmed the entire [first] season. |
