Lucy Alexis Liu was born December 2nd 1967 to parents who had immigrated to the USA from mainland China. She was raised in an Italian neighborhood in Queens, New York City, New York and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1986.
She is also a graduate of the University of Michigan and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She also studied Dance, Art and Oriental Cultures. During her senior year she auditioned for a supporting role in Alice in Wonderland and landed the lead and this was the catalyst for her professional career in acting. She studied Art in China under a special grant and won considerable praise for her exhibit of mixed media photographic pictures laid out in the center of an original wood frame and intermixed with ceramics, paints and other papers. As a hobby, Lucy practices Kali-Eskrima-Silat (the art of knife and rod fighting) and is a talented artist, photographer. She also snow boards, repels mountains, skis, and recently tried out her equestrian and motorcycle skills only to sustain injuries. Her friends describe her as fearless. Her acting career really took off when she was cast as Ling Woo on Fox's hit series Alley McBeal. In 1999, Lucy was selected as one of the sexiest women on television by Enrtainment Weekly. Her television credits also include appearances on ER, NYPD Blue and L.A. Law. She also appeared as a series regular on an episode of THE X-FILES. Her feature film career is now taking off as she stars as one of the title characters in the recent feature film adaption of the hit 70's TV series Charlie's Angels. |
