Amy Yasbeck Interview
AMY YASBECK: Isn't it weird that we are sharing a husband. Is that okay? KATEY SAGAL: I should be asking you that. Is that okay? AMY: What do I care? KATEY: You just looked like John. You make similar faces. AMY: He gets it from me. I'm the funny one. (laughs) He's funny at home. Is he funny here? KATEY: He's extremely funny here. AMY: I mean, even when the audience isn't here, is he trying to crack you up? KATEY: Yes. He's always funny. AMY: Here's the secret about him. He's running for class president at all times. KATEY: I'm going to interview you. Does he lose his temper? AMY: No. KATEY: I wonder what's up. Everybody has to lose his temper sometime. AMY: He doesn't do it around me. He works out, so maybe in the gym. He's very loving and kind to me. He's a father figure to the kids on the set. Is he a husband figure to you? KATEY: You have nothing to worry about. I have the utmost respect for you and John as a married couple. AMY: I forgot we were married. We were philandering there for so long, the married thing is recent for me. KATEY: You're such a cute married couple. How long have you been married? AMY: Three years. We did it the Hollywood way. Our daughter's four, and we have been married for three years. From your point of view, why do you think people are tuning in and enjoying the show? KATEY: I liked the job initially because I like John Ritter. I'm not saying that because he's your husband, but I'm a huge fan of John's. So, I think people tune in because they like John and the show's funny. I think we tend to laugh at what we see in ourselves, and this show is really about a family, so I think a lot of different people relate to it. AMY: Are you learning from these scripts anything that will help you be Ninja Mom, so you'll be ready for anything that could happen in real life? KATEY: No. I don't think you're ever ready for everything that's going to happen. I think you always have to stay on your toes. I don't think there are eight simple rules, in other words. AMY: Oh, great! Completely destroy the whole meaning of the show. Get out! There are eight simple rules: one rule a year. That's why the show's going to last so long. |
