- Amanda Plummer Amanda Plummer facts 1. Amanda was named after a character, Amanda Prynne, that her mother, Tammy Grimes, played in Noel Coward's Private Lives on Broadway in NYC. Her parents had considered naming her Michael Amanda, after her godmother, actress Michael Learned, but thought she might not like the name Michael, and Amanda has never used her middle name, Michael.. 2. Amanda trained horses as a teenager and wanted to be a jockey, she recommends grey horses as a handicapping tip. 3. She is the favorite actress of Christina Ricci (Wednesday of The Addams Family), and her acting is admired by Alicia Silverstone, Kate Mulgrew, Alan Arkin, Fairuza Balk (her friend) and Michael Weiss. Her extraordinary voice amazed Bronson Pinchot. 4. During her 'lean years' in New York City, she survived by telling stories to strangers in Times Square, and even requested food from some of them at fast food restaurants. 5. During the 1980's, she tried to produce plays in New York, but was told by producers "It's marvelous writing but no one will want to see it."
