Allison Smith was born in NY, the youngest of six children. She made her professional debut at the age of nine in the Broadway musical "Evita". She then landed the starring title role of the Broadway musical "Annie" at the age of ten and went on to play the role for 3 years. She was the youngest person to ever star in a Broadway musical at that time. From the age of 13-20 she played "Jennie Lowell" on the TV series "Kate and Allie" on CBS for six seasons. She continues to star in theatre productions, such as 1994's LA premiere production of "Oleanna" by David Mamet, the year 2000 musical "The Education of Randy Newman" at the South Coast Rep. and, in 2001, "QED" at the Mark Taper forum (opposite Alan Alda). Miss Smith still recurs on NBC's "The West Wing" in the role of Mallory Obrien. An accomplished singer, she has sung at Radio City Music Hall, The Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall.
